The Stranger Who Remembered My Pineapple Rant
I matched a girl on random cam and the first thing she said was “wait, I know that voice.” I laughed and said she probably didn’t. She insisted.
“Three weekends ago,” she said, “house party on 8th Street, you argued with someone about whether pineapple belongs on pizza for like twenty minutes.”
My mouth went dry. Because she was right. I had been at that party, and I had absolutely gone on a very long, very passionate rant about pineapple on pizza to a room full of strangers who were not as invested as me.
“That was you?” I said, and she grinned like she’d won something. “I was the one standing by the fridge,” she said, “who told you that you were objectively wrong.”
I did not remember her. I remembered the fridge person being the only one who fought back. She was that person. We talked for an hour after that, and honestly it was the easiest conversation I’ve ever had on cam, because we already had a shared enemy: pineapple-on-pizza people.
“I think this is the best thing that’s ever happened to me on here,” she said, “finding someone I argued with in real life.” I agreed, and then she unmatched with “the pineapple debate is still open.”
It’s funny how the unexpected returns of random chat work, and how the people you meet online can turn out to be someone you already argued with at a party.
